Volunteer for NASA Space Science day! Give back to the community!

Hello Everybody,

I hope everyone has had a great summer. It's almost time for school to start and SHPE is ready to start the year with some new great events. As some of you may know, this year GT-SHPE will be hosting the first NASA Space Science Days. The program's main goal is to expand the knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to middle school-age Hispanic students in the Atlanta area with a day full of workshops designed by NASA educators. We are expecting around 200 8th grade students for this event, which means there are a lot of ways to get involved and give back to the community.

One of the most important roles for this event is being college mentors. As a mentor, you will receive training from NASA and lead one of the workshops during the main event which will take place on September 29th from 8:30AM-5PM. To be a mentor you must attend the training that will take place during two sessions:
Friday August 24th 5-9PM & Sunday August 26th 10AM-2PMThat's only two weeks from now so please sign up promptly to get a head count

Please sign up with the link below. If you have time conflicts to attend the workshops but can still be present during the main event please specify so in the form. There are still other forms of helping out during the event!

At the moment I am also looking for two special roles
1. Someone interested in designing the T-shirt for this event
2. Someone interested in contacting sponsors to obtain funds

Any questions or inquiries please don't hesitate to ask. Please share this with other's who would be interested but are not currently on the SHPE list.

Enjoy the rest of your break!

Best Regards,

Julian
