a. My name is Rosangela Dominguez (ChBE 12) and I work for Ingersoll Rand as a Sale Engineer in Davidson, NC. Ingersoll Rand is interested in coming to campus and spreading the news not only about our Early Talent programs but also about the Sales Engineering as a career option. I would love to gather all of the professional organizations (ASME, AICHE , SHPE, etc) together and give an information session about technical sales. The current idea would be to rent out an auditorium and invite all of the professional organizations on campus. Please let me know if  SHPE would be interested in participating or potentially spearheading this opportunity

b. GE Healthcare will be on your campus recruiting for spring co-ops and summer internships. In an attempt to the strengthen the relationship between student organizations and GE Healthcare recruiters, we’d like to have a Meet and Greet with student body members from your organizations to discuss prospective careers with GE Healthcare, specifically for the Operations Management Leadership Program (It’s a two-year program consisting of four six-month rotations that allow members to build leadership and functional skills through challenging rotation assignments and world class training).
Meet and Greet on Monday, September 10th starting around 6p lasting an hour. If this is something your organization would be interested in, please reply with an answer by Tuesday, August 28th to allow time to plan the event.

c. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in jet engines powering such aircraft as the Boeing 747, Airbus A320, F-22 Raptor, F-35 lightning and many more. Come hear more about who they are, the world class engineering they do and how you could build a career with them. There will be an info session in the Student Success Center (attached to the stadium) on Thursday Sept 6th and dinner will be served!
We’d also like to encourage you and your members to apply online ahead of time at www.utcjobs.com/college. I know online applications seem like a black hole, but I promise that we will be reviewing the submitted resumes and we would still like to talk to students at the career fair after submittal.

Hello SHPE @Georgia Tech!

Square is thrilled to be launching our University Programs efforts this year and we would love for YOU to consider joining our team! Square is a mobile payments startup in San Francisco looking for Computer Science and Engineering majors to help us quickly and securely processes millions of dollars each day. At Square we value design, user experience, and accuracy. If it's not beautiful, reliable, and magical, we won't ship it. We're looking for people who share our values and are passionate about simplifying the world of payments.

Jack Dorsey is the creator, co-founder, and Executive Chairman of Twitter, Inc. and the co-founder and CEO of Square, Inc. Originally from St. Louis, Jack's early fascination with mass-transit and how cities function led him to Manhattan and programming real-time messaging systems for couriers, taxis, and emergency vehicles. Through this work, Jack witnessed thousands of workers in the field constantly updating where they were and what they were doing; Twitter is a constrained simplification designed for general usage and extended by the millions of people who make it their own every day. As part of Jack's continued devotion to simplifying the complex and making technology accessible to everyone, everywhere, Jack co-founded Square in 2009. Square enables anyone to accept credit card payments on their mobile device and has empowered hundreds of thousands of individuals and merchants to start and grow a business. Jack was recognized as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people and was named an "outstanding innovator under the age of 35" by MIT's Technology Review.

There are a number of GA Tech alum here. Square is growing at a very fast pace we are seeking interns / co-op and full-time grads for positions in iOS, Android, Ruby, and Risk.  We will be attending the Career Fair on 9.12, will conduct on-campus interviews on 10.10, and then will bring finalists on-site to interview shortly thereafter.

We look forward to meeting you this fall! If there ways for us to partner with you on campus please don't hesitate to reach out.

Best,
Saqi

Volunteer for NASA Space Science day! Give back to the community!

Hello Everybody,

I hope everyone has had a great summer. It's almost time for school to start and SHPE is ready to start the year with some new great events. As some of you may know, this year GT-SHPE will be hosting the first NASA Space Science Days. The program's main goal is to expand the knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to middle school-age Hispanic students in the Atlanta area with a day full of workshops designed by NASA educators. We are expecting around 200 8th grade students for this event, which means there are a lot of ways to get involved and give back to the community.

One of the most important roles for this event is being college mentors. As a mentor, you will receive training from NASA and lead one of the workshops during the main event which will take place on September 29th from 8:30AM-5PM. To be a mentor you must attend the training that will take place during two sessions:
Friday August 24th 5-9PM & Sunday August 26th 10AM-2PMThat's only two weeks from now so please sign up promptly to get a head count

Please sign up with the link below. If you have time conflicts to attend the workshops but can still be present during the main event please specify so in the form. There are still other forms of helping out during the event!

At the moment I am also looking for two special roles
1. Someone interested in designing the T-shirt for this event
2. Someone interested in contacting sponsors to obtain funds

Any questions or inquiries please don't hesitate to ask. Please share this with other's who would be interested but are not currently on the SHPE list.

Enjoy the rest of your break!

Best Regards,

Julian
