SHPE Digest 04/23/12

1. Your new SHPE EBoard!


As you all know last Thursday we held elections to determine your 2012-13 Executive Board.
I'm proud to announce our new following officers!

2. Senior BOD Applications Due TOMORROW 
Corporate Relations Chair:

Help the External VP with procuring funds and organizing professional events
Recruitment Chair:
Direct recruitment efforts throughout the year and organize social and academic activities during the summer
Conference Chair:
Organize all the logistics and raise funds for the national conference
Community Outreach Chair:
Direct community outreach activities and plan fundraisers

3. HRT Elections : Applications due today at 8 pm!

WILL BE HELD TUESDAY NIGHT (location to be announced)

Positions with a brief description: 
-- Secretary : send e-mails, take notes during meetings

-- Social Chair: plan social activities and end of the year dinners

-- Public Relations: media work: facebook and website

-- Outreach Chair: work alongside HSF and organize outreach events to high schools and middle schools

-- 2 people for EXPLORE Chairs: plan the two day event for students that are thinking about applying to Tech, this includes the tailgate and football game

-- 2 people for Es.Tu.Dia Chairs: plan the overnight event for accepted students

END OF THE YEAR DINNER:
To finish off our year we are doing an end of the year dinner at RAYS this THURSDAY  NIGHT at 7:00pm.
We will be handing out awards and throwing a mini baby celebration for Valentina's baby boy!! Please RSVP for the event on Facebook.

SHPE Digest 04/16/12

1) Executive Board Elections and Applications

Elections will now be Thursday, April 19 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm in IC 209. Free Food will be served!



In order to run, the attached Executive Board application must be submitted to shpegt@gmail.com by Tuesday, April 17 at 5:00 pm. You can find the description of each position on our website under OUR CHAPTER->Constitution. The E-Board will review your application and will notify you whether or not you are qualified to run. If you are qualified to run, your application will be posted on the website for everyone to review.

Additionally, we are creating four senior board of directors positions, which will be elected by the new E-Board before the beginning of the summer and will have a term of one year. The rest of the BOD positions will be elected as usual during fall. The senior BOD positions are the following:

HSF Will also be having their last general meeting
today @11am in Skiles 249 and will be serving free jimmy johns.
At this meeting, they will discuss details about the end-of-the-year party and choosing the leaders for the 2012-2013 year!!

1. GT SHPE General Meeting
 
 CH2M Hill will be coming to present at this Thursday's general meeting. Our meeting will be at Mason 142 @ 11am and as always free food provided!
 
 
CH2M Hill also is the consulting firm responsible for the construction and designs of the new olympic stadiums in London for the Winter Olympics!
 
 
2. SGA Elections Re-VOTE
 
There seems to have been a glitch in the voting system -- all votes were cleared and the polls reset.

3. GE Corporate Tour
 
GE is offering a corporate tour of their plant in Greenville, SC THIS coming Friday, April 13th. 
 
This is a great opportunity for those looking into what kind of work you would be involved in at the plant as well as getting a chance to network with SHPE members from Clemson University!  
 
You would be leaving Friday at 8am and be back by 5pm.

4) GTHAN Symposium


GTHAN will be hosting a Water Resources Symposium on April 16, 2012.  From 11am - 3pm.  
Following will be a Job Fair.  From 3-pm to 5pm.
Companies present are CHM2Hill and Epsten Group.

We are in need of volunteers for the event.
Students are welcome to display their work at the event.  You must reserve a spot in advance for this.
